Project 21 Composers

Danielle Kilhoffer
Hometown: Burns Flat, OK
Date of birth: 10/7/1989
Danielle Kilhoffer grew up in the quiet countryside of western Oklahoma. Most of her encounters with music sprang from private piano lessons and a whole lot of listening. Throughout high school, Danielle was involved in choir, handbells, praise and worship band and 4-H talent shows. She first thought of composing when in need of an offertory for church. After creating her own rendition of the hymn "The Solid Rock", Danielle studied classical instrumental music on the side and wrote whatever music came into her head.

Danielle is a junior and studies piano with Dr. Derek Lawrence, and violin with Jon Arnold of the OKC Philharmonic in addition to her composition studies with Dr. Knight.

Danielle plans on getting her masters in Composition before freelancing her music. She loves Ravel, Chopin, Tchaikovsky, and Rachmaninov. John Mayer, Leigh Nash, and Josh Groban are a few of her favorite solo artists.

The Project 21 concert on March 25, 2010 featured one of Danielle's pieces for violin and piano. The violinist was Natalia Canon Valencia, and Danielle performed on the piano. Another piece by Danielle entitled "In the Jungle" (for solo flute) was premiered in April of 2010 at the Wanda L. Bass School of Music.

Danielle is excited about her junior year and can't wait to see what the next semester brings.
